Detox Water

Summer is here and that means it’s time to cleanse and start feeling refresheed with detox water!

One of the best ways to start feeling lighter and get on a better healthy living path is to always, always, always have a bottle of water in your hand. If the thought of drinking liters of tap water a day isn’t appealing to you, we have some detox water recipes to get you going. 😀


We live on a mountain that was once a flourishing mining town. This means that our tap water is a…required taste. So the easiest way for us to drink a lot of water throughout the day is to have bubbly water always at hand. Our easy 3 process goes a little something like this: Step 1 – Fill your Brita filter system with water, Step 2 – Fill your SodaStream bottle with clean filtered water, Step 3 – Carbonate your water and enjoy!


Lemon Detox water

Lemon water is great for the body for many reason.   For starters it is great for boosting the immune system, pumping you full of  vitamin C, and potassium.  It is also great for the digestion.  It will also stimulate your liver, flushing out toxins.  Here is what we like to do.

2 lemons sliced

1 grapefruit sliced

2 sprigs mint

Take the lemons, grapefruit and mint and put into a pitcher and then add water.  Let sit in the fridge over night and then drink through out the day.


Fire Detox Water

Fire water is great to start off the day.  It is  great replacement for coffee it helps balance out blood sugar, and it is also a good anti inflammatory

1/4 tea spoon each of Turmeric, ginger powder, cinnamon

1/2 lemon juiced

pinch of cyanne pepper

1 tea spoon coconut oil

pinch of sea salt

16 oz water

Bring your water to a boil and then pour into a mug with the remaining ingredients.


Honey Detox water

Honey has tons of benefits for the body. If you eat/drink honey that is local to your area it will help with seasonal allergies, it is a great replacement for sugar, and it helps flush out the toxins in your body.  All you need to do is take 1.5 tablespoon of local honey and add it to 16 ounce of water, add a squeeze of lemon and enjoy.


Cucumber Detox Water

Cucumber is wonderful when it comes to detoxing. Cucumbers are loaded with vitamin A and C and the it’s great for hydration.  Not to mention, cucumbers are loaded with antioxidants and detoxifying properties. So how could you not want cucumbers.  So slice up a cucumber and throw it in you water and enjoy.


Now that you know about them all, you can combine them all and create some great waters to enjoy throughout your day.


I don’t recommend drinking the majority of your water in the form of sports drinks. 1 or 2 bottles a day wont hurt. Just remember that in those commercial sports drinks, there is a lot of added food coloring and sugars. These will be counter-productive if you are trying to loose weight or get healthy.

SO! To summarize, you want to drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water (if you weigh 200 lbs, you want to drink 100 ounces of water)
